Living With Ghosts

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have taken a temporary part-time position helping a local retailer sell Halloween costumes, so goblins and ghouls are on my mind. I love helping people find the perfect costume. Action heroes have been favorites for boys, pirates have been popular with people of all ages and Harry Potter still has plenty of fans looking for a Nimbus 2000. Adult women want to become bumblebees and Minions, and grown men are intrigued by morphsuits. No one has asked me about a ghost costume, though. A white sheet with cut-out eye holes may have been the trick-or-treating disguise of choice in <i>It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown</i>, but today, ghosts seem to be staying home  - "Ghost" chairs by Philippe Starck, that is. Bronze Age

Lucite: Clearly Designed

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Lucite. Plexiglas. Perspex. This synthetic organic product, which was developed more than 75 years ago, has been used to create chairs, handbags and airplane windshields. It is transparent but can be tinted. It is sturdy, and scratches on its surface often can be buffed away. Interior designers like Lucite because it is elegant and does not take up visual space. It disappears and makes small spaces airy. It is glamorous and modern.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After pulling together some photos of Lucite furniture, I decided to search <a href="http://www.1stdibs.com/" target="_blank">1stDibs</a> to see what Lucite pieces were available for sale.
