Purple Reigns

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Many of you know that Pantone recently chose "Radiant Orchid" as 2014's Color of the Year. I have read some comments online in which posters state that Pantone has made a mistake with this choice. I personally am not a huge fan of a full-on orchid room. However, I think the color can look quite elegant in small doses or tempered with brown, gold or shades of blue. Orchid is the perfect partner for green - in home decor, as in nature. Mixing shades of lavender, amethyst, plum, lilac and mauve can create a soothing palette. The younger Chadwick calls the cattleya the “crème de la crème” of orchids. This is not a plant you can buy at the grocery store. The cattleya is the original corsage orchid and it grows in the rain forest, where it hangs from trees and thrives in full sun. The <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Cattleya</i> <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Priscilla Presley</i> has a price tag of $200 due to its unique nature and the amount of time needed to create it.</span></span></div><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Chadwick & Son will create a hybrid cattleya for non-celebrities, too, as long as they are willing to pay $1,500 and wait. For their patience, they will receive 20 seedlings and a Royal Horticultural Society stamp of approval and verification of lineage.<o:p></o:p></span></span>
